I think it's fair to say that we all want to become better versions of ourselves.

If you don't...

This isn't the place for you...

Because the truth is ... I'll probably say something that's going to hurt your feelings.

I don't care.

My job is to tell you what you need to hear to succeed in life...

Not what you want to hear.

So ask yourself...

Why do you want to improve?

Do you want to be a better family member or friend?

Do you want to progress your career and earn more money for a more secure future?

Do you want to build the skills you need to contribute more to your business or community?

I personally believe that it's our obligation to become great.

Not only for ourselves ... but also for the people around us who look to us and the example we set.

When you do everything you can to become the best version of yourself possible ... the right people will take notice and follow your lead.

What Does It Mean to "Better Yourself"

When I talk about bettering yourself and becoming the best version of yourself possible ... what I'm really talking about is personal development.

It's putting in the necessary time and work required to pursue your potential.

...and since your potential is constantly evolving as you do...

There will always be something you can learn and improve upon.

That means this is a lifelong commitment.

It doesn't matter how good you think you are or how much you think you already know...

You can always be better.

You can always build more skills.

You can always learn new information.

You can always improve your craft.

...and you can always become a better version of yourself.

Bettering Yourself Starts With You

Nobody can put in the work for you.

If you want to better yourself, you have to commit to developing yourself every single day.

Not just Monday through Friday...

Not just on days you feel like it...

Every single day.

Are you willing to put in the work to become a better version of yourself?

If your answer is yes ... here are # things you can do now to start bettering yourself.

1. Stomp Out Your Excuses & Complaints

Whining and coming up with excuses as to why you can't do something is weakness.

...and it's weakness that as long as you can't overcome...

Will infest every area of your life.

If you're serious about bettering yourself and becoming someone you're truly proud of...

You have to train your brain to dismantle your excuses and take action in spite of them.

You will never be able to better yourself if you allow excuses to stand in the way of your progress.

2. Take Ownership Of Your Life

The world has enough professional victims.

Don't be one of them.

You must understand that your actions and choices have created the life you have right now.

Nobody else and nothing else is responsible ... That's the truth.

Start taking ownership of your life by adopting this mindset and focusing on controlling the variables that are in your control.

You control the foods you eat.

You control the content you consume.

You control the water you drink.

You control the people you surround yourself with.

You control the way you spend your time.

You control a lot more than you realize, and likely a lot more than you're taking responsibility for currently.

Bettering yourself starts with taking ownership of yourself and your life.

3. Set Clear Goals

If you're ever going to better yourself...

You must set and start pursuing your biggest goals.

Your goals should be big enough to force you to take massive action ... and also specific enough to be able to measure your progress.

If your goals are small and attainable...

They won't be enough to keep you inspired over the long term.

If your goals are vague or unspecific...

There will be no way to measure the progress you're making toward them.

Both elements are crucial for forming goals that will actually help you better yourself.

Big, crystal-clear goals will force you to take the actions necessary...

...and hold you accountable to whether you're actually progressing or not.

It's through this process of pursuing your biggest goals in life and refining your approach and daily actions that you'll be bettering yourself.

4. Start Reading

One of the best things you can do every day to better yourself is by reading.

No, I'm not talking about 50 Shades of Grey or Harry Potter...

I'm talking about non-fiction books that provide real value.

I'm talking about books that will teach you new information...

I'm talking about books that will give you a fresh perspective...

I'm talking about books that will sharpen your skill set...

These are the kinds of books that will help you become a better version of yourself.

I attribute a lot of my success in life to reading...

...and all I do is read 10 pages a day.

You'll be amazed by how big of an impact reading can have on your life too.

Do I necessarily like reading?

No.

But I love the result...

...and that result will show up in the money you make...

The relationships you have...

The career you build...

The house you live in...

The car you drive...

...and so much more.

5. Take Your Health Seriously

Diet and exercise aren't just to help you look better...

They're also to help you feel better and become better.

Your mind and body are the two most important tools you use every single day to build the life you want.

Diet and exercise just happen to be the means to strengthen these tools.

There isn't a single person I consider to be successful who doesn't prioritize their health.

They are consistently bettering themselves through their commitment to building a stronger mind and body.

If you plan on reaching your biggest goals in life...

You have to make this same commitment.

6. Spend Time Improving Your Craft Every Day

I'm not saying you have to be working every single day...

If you want to ... you absolutely can.

What I'm saying is you should spend some time every day learning new skills that will help you become a master of your craft.

Let's say you run your own company...

Are you doing something every day that will help improve the business?

It could be something to fix your day-to-day operations...

It could be learning and implementing new leadership skills...

It could be trying new marketing strategies...

You get the point.

You should be doing things that will help you become a master of your craft.

7. Do New & Challenging Things

Comfort leads to complacency.

Keep making progress and bettering yourself by embracing uncomfortable situations.

You cannot grow and learn without them.

...and even if you fail...

Which you will, just like the rest of us...

These failures will only help you make better decisions in the future.

So do not fear risk or discomfort...

Both of them are necessary components to bettering yourself as well as gaining the lessons and experiences you need to win long-term.

The only way to improve yourself is by getting uncomfortable.

Well, what better way to get uncomfortable than by intentionally doing the uncomfortable things?

There is no better way.

How about dieting for 30 days without cheating?

Or what about doing an Ironman?

If you're not sure exactly where you can start to challenge yourself as a whole...

8. Exercise Discipline

Greatness requires discipline.

You need to exercise discipline on a daily basis...

Which means you have to do things to build your discipline.

So what are ways you can practice discipline?

I would start with this simple exercise that I do every day...

Any time you have the chance to fix something or execute at the highest level possible...

You should do it.

If there's a piece of trash on the ground ... pick it up.

If there's a spill or a mess that you come across ... clean it.

If you still have work to do after your scheduled hours for the day ... stay later to finish.

If you use the bathroom ... make sure you wipe your piss off the toilet seat and wipe the sink clean.

If you say you're going to wake up at 5 AM to work out, get up at 5 AM to work out.

The amount of discipline you exercise in your life will be directly reflected in every area of your life.

9. Plan and Execute

I’m sure you’ve already started thinking of multiple ways you can start becoming the best version of yourself.

That's great.

Just make sure that after you have your plan in place…

You execute.

That’s how winners do it.

A plan is nothing without action.

I can tell you everything you need to know to better yourself...

But at the end of the day ... I can't do the work for you.

That’s up to you.

You have to go out and do the gritty work required to improve yourself.

Personally, I like to keep it simple...

I plan and execute on 5 tasks every day that are going to bring me one step closer to reaching my goals and becoming a better version of myself.

This is the same game plan that I’ve run for the past 20+ years…

I call it The Power List.

All you have to do is reverse-engineer your goals into 5 critical tasks every day.

If you complete all 5 tasks ... you win the day.

If you fail to complete all 5 tasks ... you lose the day.

Your success with the Power List ultimately comes down to discipline.

Will you execute, or not?

10. Develop Mental Toughness

Mental toughness is the single most important skill you need to develop to win in any area of life.

...and if you want the quickest way to make yourself better...

Get extremely intentional about building this skill.

Mental toughness is the literal foundation upon which every other skill is built.

It's also a skill that will be required of you to get wherever it is you're trying to go.

Life will be an endless string of challenges until the day you die.

With mental toughness...

You'll be capable of overcoming any challenge you're presented with.
