Every single one of us feels lost in life at some point along our journey.
Most of the time, this is when we're able to make a decision about who it is we want to become and the life that we truly want to build.
If you're at this point...
You have to remember that the way you feel right now is temporary.
The emotions you feel right now are temporary.
Do not make any decisions that you will regret for the rest of your life.
You have a lot to look forward to.
Your best days are ahead of you...
Not behind you.
Here are 9 things I want you to remember when you're feeling lost in life...
There isn't a single person on planet Earth who has everything "figured out".
There may be a lot of people who will make you think they have it all figured out...
But I promise you...
These people are full of sh*t.
Nobody has all the knowledge.
Nobody has all the skills.
Nobody has the "perfect" plan.
Nobody.
Part of the reason you feel lost in life is because you’re waiting for the moment when you feel ready.
Only to eventually realize that moment is never going to come.
It's not know then go...
It's go then know as you learn from mistake after mistake along the journey.
You will figure things out as you go ... I promise.
You don't need to know everything now.
...but if you never take action...
You have no shot.
In times of uncertainty, most people panic.
...and while everyone else sits on their hands and waits for the storm to pass...
Winners double down and figure out ways to get better.
They understand that when everything is uncertain...
Anything is possible.
If you feel uncertain...
That's your sign to get started.
Navigating through uncertainty is what will equip you with the knowledge, grit, perseverance, and skills to see your goals through to the end.
There will always be unknown variables and uncertainty.
Never allow that to keep you from taking action.
There isn't a single successful person in existence who hasn't had to push through uncertainty.
Not a single one.
Fear is the #1 reason why most people end up with a life they don't want.
That's because most people are so afraid of looking stupid...
Falling on their face...
Getting laughed at...
Getting ridiculed...
...and failing...
That it keeps them from ever going out and taking action.
The truth is ... all of these things are the reality of what it takes to win and become successful.
It is an unavoidable component of success.
You have to face fear.
You have to.
...and what you'll come to understand about your fears is this...
99.9% of the things you’re afraid of are due to a lack of information and experience.
When you were a kid, riding a bike without training wheels seemed like the scariest thing ever.
But as soon as you figure it out, the fear goes away forever.
Apply that idea to the rest of your life.
Conquer your fears through action.
"What if I fail?"
"What if I look stupid?"
"What if I fall short of my goals?"
"What if my spouse doesn't support me?"
Quit asking yourself these questions.
Start asking yourself, "What if I don't go out and pursue my goals? What's my life going to look like? What kind of regrets am I going to have at the end of my life?"
That's what you should be afraid of.
Not what your neighbor Tom or your aunt Susie is going to say about you going out and pursuing your dreams.
When you execute for long enough and eventually reach your goals...
You'll realize how irrelevant their opinions were the entire time.
That's the truth.
Never let fear keep you from pursuing the vision of your life that you have for yourself.
You will regret it if you do.
If you're feeling lost in life and feel like you need to take a risk to break yourself free...
You should take that risk.
Risks are opportunities for greatness.
Most people won’t take a leap unless they know exactly what the outcome will be.
That’s exactly why they remain average.
Where there’s risk ... there’s reward.
I'm not telling you to go out and take risks without consideration for the potential outcomes.
That would be stupid.
But what I am telling you is to take calculated risks for your success, with the understanding that they are required.
...and guess what...
If you take a risk and it doesn't work out...
You'll still be rewarded with a lesson that you can utilize to take more calculated risks in the future.
There's an immense amount of value in that.
Nobody is going to come along and give you an opportunity.
Nobody is going to come along and tell you it's your turn.
Nobody is going to come along and grant you the ability to succeed.
Nobody is going to come along and give you the permission to be great.
...and nobody is required to either.
You do not need permission to go out and become great.
Not from your parents.
Not from your spouse.
Not from your teachers.
Not from your boss.
Not from the people you work with.
Not from anyone.
The only person you need permission from is yourself.
So if you're feeling lost in life because nobody has come along and given you permission to go out and live the life you truly want for yourself...
Understand that person is yourself.
Nobody else.
Get moving.
When you’re feeling lost in life, you really only have one option.
Get to work.
You might be thinking, "I can't because of [insert excuse]."
You're lying to yourself.
We all have excuses.
The difference is some people choose to believe them while others don't.
You can make that same decision for yourself.
It's up to you.
There will always be a reason to avoid getting started.
There will always be a reason why it can't work out.
None of these excuses are relevant or the truth.
Ditch them.
You will never believe in yourself until you've actually taken action and proven to yourself what you're capable of.
The work always comes before the belief.
So, if you're feeling lost in life because you don't believe your goals are possible for you...
Start taking the actions necessary to make progress.
As you accumulate wins and start to actualize your potential...
You'll begin to build the belief and conviction necessary to achieve more and more.
Confidence.
Self-Belief.
Self-Worth.
These are all skills that are built through the process of pursuing your potential and delivering on the promises you've made to yourself.
Make a commitment to doing that work and don't look back.
The belief will come.
...But the work has to come first.
There are only two ways you can guarantee that you never reach your goals...
1. You never get started.
2. You quit.
If you choose not to compete...
You are accepting failure by default.
If you quit...
You are throwing in the towel on the life you have the potential to build and the person you have the potential to become.
One of the biggest reasons why people feel lost in life is because they haven't made a decision about who they want to be.
The life they want to build...
The relationships they want to have...
The goals they want to achieve...
...and because they never make a decision and actively work toward achieving these things...
They feel lost.
The other biggest reason why people feel lost in life is because they'll make a decision to pursue something...
...but as soon as they're faced with hardship...
They quit and move on to something else.
Years go by, and these people start to question why they're still stuck in the same place they started in.
The reality is...
These people are in a constant cycle of quitting and starting all over again.
They never stay in one place long enough to gain any real traction...
Then wonder why their life looks the same.
Don't quit.
If you're always looking at the big picture and wondering how you're ever going to get there...
You're going to feel overwhelmed.
But your biggest goals in life don't require massive actions.
They require small, intentional, repeated actions.
Focus on winning the day.
Take your goals and break them down into the daily, critical tasks you must execute to make progress and create momentum.
This is a strategy I've used for over 25 years to create the life I have today.
I call it the Power List.
The concept and application of the Power List is very simple.
Write down 5 critical tasks for the day.
If you complete all 5 critical tasks...
You win the day.
If you fail to complete all 5 critical tasks...
You lose the day.
The entire purpose is to build the habit of winning by stringing enough wins in a row.
If you win enough days...
You win the week.
If you win enough weeks...
You win the month.
If you win enough months...
You win the year.
If you win enough years...
You win in life.
If you want to learn more about the Power List, you can listen to the show I recorded for it on my podcast, Real AF. You can listen here.
You can also get your own Power List here and start building the habit of winning the day now.
Feeling lost in life?
The Power List is your action plan for breaking free of this feeling and building a life on your terms.
Achieving long-term success is very simple.
It's not easy ... but it is simple.
It's an equation.
Your inputs equal your outputs...
Confidence is a key element in achieving any level of success in business and life.
Without it, you cannot win.
Confidence is a sense of security in your ability to execute and accomplish whatever it is you set your mind to it.
Without it ... Your goals will not be...
I haven't met a single person I consider to be truly successful who hasn't overcome massive amounts of adversity and struggle.
It's no coincidence that some of the most successful people of all time have come from extremely difficult situations.
Consider that a great thing for yourself.
Because regardless of who you are...
