Mental toughness is something a lot of people talk about, but very few ever really develop for themselves.
Over my 25+ years in business, I've seen all kinds of people and personalities...
Some are success stories ... and some are failures.
Some are people who "want" and some are people that "do".
I can guarantee you that the people that "do" are 1000% better off in life than those that just "want" to do better, and do nothing about it.
That being said, if you are guilty of just "wanting" things without action, you've got the hardest part out of the way ... vision.
But the reality is, you just haven't developed the mental toughness you need to accomplish what you've set out to do yet.
You're probably wondering, "What does mentally strong mean? How can I become mentally strong?"
Being mentally strong is about more than just snapping your fingers and telling yourself you're tough.
Actually, mental strength is something you must work on consistently, every single day, in all areas of your life.
That's why I created 75 HARD, the FREE Mental Toughness Program to help you develop your mental toughness.
Once you develop mental toughness, you can then use that skill to take control of every situation. It's because you can focus your thoughts and actions into influencing positive outcomes.
No, I'm not talking about some made up superpower...
This is a real-life skill that over 150,000 have already mastered through my 75 HARD Program.
Whether you complete 75 HARD or not, your mental toughness (or lack-there-of) is going to play a crucial role in determining whether or not you truly become successful in what it is you're doing.
Which brings up the question...
Mental toughness is the foundation upon which everything else in your life is built.
It prepares you to push through and overcome any obstacle or challenge that stands in your way.
Without it, you cannot build the life you ultimately want for yourself.
Because these challenges are unavoidable.
Which means you must build yourself into someone who is capable of overcoming these challenges.
This takes mental toughness.
The answer is simple, but can be very difficult to actually implement.
You must learn to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
By pushing your limits and getting out of your own comfort zone, you will be able to face new challenges...
Sometimes you'll succeed...
Sometimes you'll fail...
When you fail ... realize that a lesson is there to be learned, and get better from it.
You won't become mentally strong overnight ... and you won't tap into your full potential right away.
It takes time.
But that shouldn't discourage you.
Actually, it should help motivate and drive you, because you have so much room to grow over the journey ahead.
I'll say it again ... developing this skill is not easy, but I guarantee you that it is worth it ... and once you develop it, you will change your life forever.
You're starting to think about where you're at now, how you can improve, and what you can do to work on your mental toughness.
How do I know?
Simple. I struggled with it for years.
I tried to come up with the "perfect plan" or "quick fix", but it never got me anywhere.
That's because I was trying to "cheat" the system, instead of actually developing a stronger mindset, and the skills that lead to me becoming mentally strong.
That's what I see so many people doing when I talk with them about mental toughness ... maybe you are trying to cheat too.
So, how do mentally strong people think?
That's a great question...
It really comes down to a few key things that they focus on, that most people don't:
Wasting time and energy on situations and outcomes that you cannot influence will not get you to where you want to be.
Instead, making sure to dominate every area of your life where you CAN influence the outcome will help you create the foundation of success that you can build on for years to come.
While valuable lessons can be learned from past experiences, putting more effort into planning and executing today (and tomorrow) will be much more valuable for your growth, personally and professionally.
No matter the situation, a mentally strong person always performs a task with the proper intent.
Whether it be in front of a boss, client, friend, or especially when no-one is around, they always complete a task as well as they can, every time.
Mentally strong people are always pushing themselves to be better.
In order to grow, you must step out of your comfort zone and embrace challenges.
This is one of the biggest mistakes I see people who think they are "successful" make...
They get comfortable with where they're at, and they stop progressing ... ultimately losing what they've worked so hard to achieve.
Whether it be in business, health, relationships, or anything else ... people who are mentally tough understand that everything is their responsibility.
They make it their mission to hold the highest standard for themselves and those around them.
Standing for what you believe in and what you know to be the "right" thing to do, in any situation, whether it benefits you or not ... is a sign of mental strength.
They believe in themselves. They believe in their mission. They believe that they will be successful.
The perfect plan is worthless without execution.
"Wanting" to build your business, career, or anything will do nothing if no action is ever taken to make them happen.
Mentally strong individuals understand this, and live it every single day.
Mentally strong people aren't focused on themselves.
They're focused on accomplishing the mission and helping the people to the right and left of them.
They are selfless with their time and energy.
They are committed to a cause much bigger than themselves and consider it to be their obligation to live a life of service.
...and they showcase this selflessness through their actions every single day.
A component of being mentally strong is having a deeply rooted sense of humility.
No matter how great you become ... You will always have an infinite amount to learn and improve on.
All mentally strong people know this.
They aren't afraid to admit when they're wrong.
They aren't afraid to ask for help.
They aren't afraid to look dumb.
They recognize that humility and a commitment to learning and developing themselves is required to get wherever it is they're trying to go.
To help you with the 75 HARD program and developing your mental strength, I wrote a book called The Book on Mental Toughness.
