Most people go through life with no real focus or direction.

...and because they have no focus and live their lives in a reactive state...

The circumstances they're presented with are ultimately what dictate where they end up in life.

If you have big goals and dreams...

You need to develop your focus.

...and while that starts with considering what it is you're trying to accomplish and building a game plan...

There's a lot more to maintaining your focus than just setting a goal and leaving it at that.

...and no, I'm not talking about "focus" in terms of paying attention.

If you can't pay attention to the tasks in front of you...

What you should be seeking is the development of discipline.

I'm talking about focus in terms of your mindset, goals, and vision for life.

If you truly want all the things you say you want in life...

You need focus.

Here are 5 tips to help you increase your focus.

1. Focus on Your Execution

When you have massive goals for life and you're constantly fixated on the end result...

The actions required can seem overwhelming.

Instead of paralyzing yourself by looking at the finish line...

Start focusing on your execution.

No matter how much you do...

No matter how much time you put in...

No matter how many reps you take...

If you are executing to a low standard...

Your goals will not be possible for you.

Checking boxes and going through the motions isn't gonna do it.

Executing to the highest standard possible and taking conscious, intentional reps will.

...because the results you produce are the only thing that matters.

If you aren't executing at the level necessary to produce exceptional results...

The actions you take will be irrelevant.

2. Focus On The Elements In Your Control

On your journey to reaching your goals and building a life on your terms...

You're going to be faced with hardship, obstacles, and circumstances that are outside of your direct control.

You cannot control the economy.

You cannot control the weather.

You cannot control other people.

You don't need to.

Steer your focus away from everything that isn't in your direct control...

...and start focusing on the elements that are in your control.

The truth is...

You are in control of all the elements that have the greatest impact on the life you build.

You control your effort.

You control your attitude.

You control your standards.

You control your physical health.

You control the information you put in your brain.

You control the people you choose to surround yourself with.

You control the choices you make.

You control your daily habits.

Start exercising control.

You'll make far more progress in life when you focus on all the things in your control vs not.

3. Focus On Becoming The Best Version of Yourself

You cannot get where you're trying to go without the skill set required.

...and if you think you're already skilled enough to achieve your biggest goals in life...

You're dead wrong.

You are not that good.

Neither am I.

You have to stay focused on your development and becoming the best version of yourself possible.

That means you have to always be learning and improving.

That means you have to constantly be challenging yourself.

...and no matter how great you do become...

You can always become better.

As you get better and as you accomplish bigger goals...

You'll need to be even more skilled to continue to accomplish bigger and bigger goals.

Focus on becoming the best version of yourself.

4. Focus On Winning the Day

If you can win one day...

You can win every day.

...and every single day is a new opportunity to win.

When I say "win the day" ... I'm referring to the Power List.

The Power List is a simple and powerful tool you can use to build the habit of winning.

Here's how it works...

Pick 5 critical tasks.

These critical tasks are the most important actions you can take to make progress toward your long-term goals.

I cannot tell you what those tasks are because they will be different for everyone.

These tasks are not checklist tasks.

These tasks are not things you should already be doing.

These tasks are not habits you already have.

This is about your goals.

If you complete all 5 of your critical tasks for the day...

You win the day.

If you fail to complete all 5 of your critical tasks for the day...

You lose the day.

The idea is to stack as many winning days in a row as possible because that is exactly what it will take for you to win in life.

When you win enough days...

You win the week.

When you win enough weeks...

You win the month.

When you win enough months...

You win the year.

When you win enough years...

You win in life.

It all starts with focusing on winning the day.

5. Focus On Building Mental Toughness

If you truly want to build yourself into someone who wins consistently...

You have to focus on building the skill of mental toughness.

It's the single most important skill you will need to win in life because it serves as the foundation upon which every other skill is built.

Confidence.

Self-Belief.

Self-Worth.

Grit.

Fortitude.

Perseverance.

When you focus on building bulletproof mental toughness...

You will start becoming the person who is capable of building the life that you want.

If you're not sure how to start building the skill of mental toughness and wondering why it's so important...

I recommend you check out my book, The Book on Mental Toughness.

The book is a resource, tool, and guide you can refer to anytime you need to sharpen this skill.

I also do a deep dive into the 75 HARD Program and how it can help you develop mental toughness.

You are not always going to feel focused.

Mental toughness is what will help you maintain a high standard and execute on your critical tasks regardless of how focused you are.
