Let me be brutally honest with you about something.

If you're sitting around waiting to "get motivated"...

You're screwed.

You've already lost and you don't even know it yet.

Motivation isn't going to save you.

It's not going to fix your problems.

It's not going to change your life.

You know what motivation really is?

It's an excuse.

An excuse for why you're not doing what you know you need to do.

An excuse for why you're not where you want to be.

An excuse for why you're settling for less than your true potential.

Stop asking "how do I get motivated?" and start asking "how do I build discipline?"

Motivation is unreliable.

It comes and goes.

You won't always feel motivated.

99% of the time, you're not going to want to get up and go do the things you know you need to do to build a great life.

That's reality.

Which is why you don't need motivation.

You need discipline.

Discipline is what will help you execute when you don't feel like it.

Discipline is what will help you build the life you want.

What Causes a Lack of Motivation?

If you're unmotivated...

It's most likely because you're thinking too small.

If you aren't setting and pursuing massive goals...

You will never feel the need to take immediate and aggressive action toward making them a reality.

Even still ... You aren't always going to be motivated to pursue your goals.

Even if you have a massive vision for your life.

If you feel "overwhelmed"...

If you feel "burned out"...

If you think you "need a break"...

I promise you ... You don't.

What you need is discipline.

How to Stop Relying on Motivation and Start Relying on Discipline

Your life will get better when you quit searching for motivation and start building discipline.

Here's how:

1. Set Massive Goals

You have to stop setting goals that fall under the umbrella of "realistic" and "attainable".

Small goals require small effort.

Small effort produces small results.

This is why most people stay average for their entire lives.

You have to cast a HUGE vision and set massive goals.

Set goals that force you outside of your comfort zone.

Set goals that require you to grow.

Set goals that make your voice shake when you talk about them.

Set goals that give you a reason to get up every day and work until you're dead tired.

Your goals should be so big that you have no other option but to go all in.

2. Learn to Love The Test Days

Anyone can do the work when they feel like it.

The real challenge is what you do when you don't feel like it.

These are your test days.

...and they present you with a test that you must pass.

On the days when you don't "feel like it" and nothing is going your way...

You have to show up and do the work anyway.

Do it when you're tired.

Do it when you're frustrated.

Do it when you'd rather do anything else.

Let everybody else quit on these days and keep moving.

The actions you take or don't take on these days will dictate the outcome of your entire life.

Instead of cursing these days...

Learn to appreciate them.

They are opportunities to level up your mindset...

Your skillset...

Your mental toughness...

...and your ability to execute no matter the conditions.

This will serve you greatly...

Especially when you don't feel motivated.

3. Keep the Promises You Make to Yourself

Every time you quit on yourself...

Every time you give up...

Every time you break a commitment you made to yourself...

You destroy your self-confidence.

You kill your momentum.

...and you prove to yourself that you can't be trusted.

Start keeping the promises you make to yourself.

All of them.

Discipline is built by keeping your promises.

You won't need motivation if you can cultivate the discipline to keep your promises no matter what.

Mental Toughness is the Answer to Motivation

Stop looking for motivation.

Start building mental toughness.

Mental toughness will give you the discipline to execute when you don't feel like it.

It is the single most important skill you can build because it is the literal foundation upon which every other skill you need to win in life is built.

Confidence.

Self-Belief.

Self-Worth.

Discipline.

Fortitude.

Grit.

These are all skills that will come as a result of the intentional development of mental toughness.
