Most people think being the best you can be means having the most money...

Driving the fastest car...

Living in the nicest house...

Being the "top dog"...

Being in the best shape...

But none of these things are actually what it means to be the best you can be.

The truth is...

We all have varied potential in life.

We also all have different ideas of what "being the best you can be" actually means.

What may be possible for you may not be possible for someone else.

What may be possible for someone else may not be possible for you.

That's okay ... because at the end of the day...

All of us still have potential.

Being the best you can be ultimately means one thing:

Committing yourself to the relentless pursuit of your own true potential.

Notice how I say the "pursuit of" and not the "fulfillment of".

Your potential is constantly evolving as you do.

It's a moving target ... Not a stationary one.

Which means you'll never actually reach your full potential.

It's something you have to constantly work toward.

...and being the best you can be is far more important than you may realize.

I would consider it your obligation.

As it is mine, too.

Why It's Important to Be the Best You Can Be

You are a leader, whether you realize it or not.

Everyone is.

Because no matter who you are...

There is at least one person who looks to you for leadership and studies the example you set.

That literally means that the example you set, good or bad, will dictate whether these people win or lose in life.

You must understand that your example tells a story...

...and it's the only story that some people will ever read.

That's why it's so important that you work to be and become the best you can be.

Your example matters.

It matters a lot.

...and I would consider it your obligation to set the absolute best example you possibly can.

Through the pursuit of your own true potential...

You are showing others what is possible for them.

Nothing is more noble than that.

Because it's not your words that inspire and create a long-lasting impact on others...

It's your actions and example.

How to Be The Best You Can Be

Pursuing your potential isn't easy.

If it were... Everyone would do it.

It demands a level of commitment most people aren't willing to make.

It requires showing up and executing even when it's the last thing you want to do.

The methods I'm going to lay out will push you to be the best you can be.

But only if you're willing to do the work.

1. Ditch Your Excuses

Before you start pursuing your potential and working to be the best you can be...

You must understand:

All the people you see living the life you want to live...

They don't have anything that you don't have.

Quit looking at highly successful people and wondering why you can't be like them.

You can.

They weren't born with any special talents you don't have.

They didn't get "lucky" like you think they may have.

They didn't have connections that you don't have.

The only thing that's different between them and you is that they put in the work, and you haven't yet.

No matter what it is you point at and blame for your current position in life...

It's an excuse.

Ditch your excuses and learn to accept your shortcomings for what they are...

Your fault.

This shouldn't discourage you.

If anything ... It should excite you.

...Because if everything that your life is currently is a reflection of your own actions, habits, and decisions...

That means you have the power to change it moving forward.

Nobody else is responsible.

Nothing else is responsible.

It's you.

2. Form a Plan and Execute

You can't hit a target you can't clearly see.

Yet ... Most people still have no idea what it means to be the best they can be.

They have no vision.

No direction.

No plan.

Which is why they never make progress.

You can't stumble into greatness.

You need to take intentional actions.

That requires a plan and a vision for what it is you're trying to do and who it is you're trying to become.

Cast a massive and detailed vision of your ideal life.

Then reverse engineer it into actionable steps you can take every day to achieve it.

You cannot be the best you can be without a plan.

3. Seek Out Discomfort

Most people run from discomfort.

They avoid hard conversations.

They quit when things get tough.

They choose the easy path over the hard path.

That's exactly why they stay average.

Here's what successful people understand:

Growth is impossible without discomfort.

Pressure is where skills are built.

Adversity is where character is forged.

You have to intentionally seek these things out.

You have to do what others won't.

You have to stay when others quit.

When you force yourself into uncomfortable situations ... you'll develop all of the skills required to be the best you can be.

Confidence.

Self-Belief.

Self-Worth.

Self-Esteem.

Fortitude.

Grit.

Resilience.

These skills only come from putting yourself under pressure and making a conscious choice to keep moving.

To be the best you can be, you can't just perform when it's easy.

You have to execute regardless of the circumstances.

You have to be reliable when conditions are unreliable.

Placing yourself in these uncomfortable situations will train you to do so.

The Book on Mental Toughness will show you exactly why you need it...

How to develop it...

...and why it's the single most important skill you can build.
