How to Build Resilience

Resilience is not something you're born with or gifted.

It's a skill you must build.

Here's how:

1. Stop Avoiding Discomfort

Most people spend their entire lives in avoidance of discomfort.

Instead, they consistently choose to indulge in what's easy.

Comfortable.

Convenient.

Stress-free.

Instant.

...and because they do...

They never give themselves the opportunity to exercise resilience.

If you want to strengthen your resilience...

You need to consistently put yourself in uncomfortable situations.

There is no other way.

2. Keep The Promises You Make to Yourself

Every time you break a promise to yourself, you weaken your resilience.

Every time you quit on yourself, you prove you can't be trusted.

Every time you give up, you reinforce the belief that you're weak.

Start making promises you can keep.

Then keep them.

No matter what.

No matter how you feel.

No matter what comes up.

This builds trust in yourself.

This builds confidence in your abilities.

This builds resilience.

3. Embrace Failure

Most people see failure as something to avoid.

Resilient people understand that failure is something to learn from.

...and no matter how hard you try to avoid it...

You can't.

Failure is a necessary component to becoming successful because it equips you with the lessons and points you in the direction of what you need to do in order to win.

By embracing failure, extracting the lessons, and applying them to your strategy moving forward...

You are exercising resilience.

...because most people quit in the face of failure.

Adapting to and overcoming failure is exactly what will help you become more resilient.

Don't run from it.

Face it.

Failure will teach you more about winning than winning ever will.

4. Solve Problems Instead of Avoiding Them

When a problem presents itself...

Find and implement a solution.

If you can train yourself to work through the hardship these problems present you with...

You will build resilience.

Every challenge you overcome makes you stronger.

Every obstacle you push through proves you can handle more.

The more problems you solve, the more resilient you become.

5. Don't Quit

This is the foundation of all resilience.

Being resilient simply means a refusal to quit.

No matter how difficult things get.

No matter how long it takes.

No matter how many times you fail.

As long as you don't quit...

You will build resilience.

As long as you keep going, you're still in the game.

As long as you refuse to give up, you can still win.

Resilience will come when everybody else quits and you keep moving.
