Every time I've made a decision based on feelings or emotions...

It was the wrong decision.

Every time.

You need to understand that your feelings are not facts.

If you want to make the best decision possible...

You need to learn how to take a step away from how you feel and focus on the facts of the situation.

This is just as true in business as it is in your personal life.

When you can train yourself to detach from your emotions...

You will win.

The Difference Between Facts And Feelings

Facts are reality.

Facts come from evidence or data.

Facts are proven.

Facts are truth.

Feelings are none of these things.

Feelings are subjective and are the byproduct of personal experiences and emotions.

Do not confuse the two.

Far too many people get hung up on their feelings and ruin their entire life because of it.

Align your decisions with the facts.

The Importance of Critical Thinking

If you can't learn how to critically think...

You will lose in life.

Let's say you want to buy a house.

You start looking...

You tour a few homes...

Then you find the one.

It has everything you need and want.

You become emotionally attached to the house...

Even though you're informed that the house has serious foundation issues.

Another house is available that you've had your eyes on as well, but it's missing some of the "wow factor" that the house with foundation issues has.

Which house do you buy?

Your feelings will tell you to buy the house with foundation issues.

It's everything you want and need, right?

But would purchasing that house be the best decision when it comes down to logic?

Of course not.

The house is in need of serious repairs and potentially even demolition...

...meaning it could cost you a lot more in the future.

If you can't critically think through this scenario and what's going to be the most logical decision...

You're going to end up with big problems on your plate.

...and that's just one example of why critical thinking is so important.

It forces you to examine the facts.

Understand that the facts are the guiding light to bring you to the best decision possible.

Emotions Aren't Bad

Even though you don't want to make decisions based on your feelings and emotions...

That isn't to say that your feelings are bad.

It's normal to experience emotion, and it shouldn't necessarily be suppressed...

You just shouldn't let emotion get involved in your decision-making process.

For example, are you going to eat a pizza while you're on a diet ... simply because you feel like it?

No ... that wouldn't be the logical decision to make, even though that pizza would be delicious.

What you need to understand is that it's okay to experience emotion...

But your actions should not be in-line solely with your emotions.

Your emotions will cost you time...

Money...

...and ultimately your success and happiness in life.

Is that really worth the short-term gratification of making an emotional decision?

Absolutely not.

Facts Over Feelings

When it comes to the decision-making process...

You should always be on the side of the facts...

Not your feelings.

The facts are going to give you the clear, unbiased, and logical decision to make every time...

Your feelings can misguide you and ultimately lead you to the wrong decision.

This isn't rocket science either...

It can just be hard when most of us are so conditioned to act out of emotion.

Trust me on this...

The sooner you can detach yourself from your feelings and start focusing on the facts...

The sooner your life will improve.

Separate Facts & Feelings With Mental Toughness

Separating your personal feelings and emotions from your decision-making process is difficult.

It requires mental toughness.

The same can be said about building the life you truly want for yourself.

Accomplishing anything of significance requires this skill.

Mental toughness is the foundation upon which every other skill is built.

...and it's also the biggest separating factor between the people who win consistently in life vs those who don't.

If you're ready to take complete control of your life, I wrote a book called The Book on Mental Toughnesswhich will show you exactly how.

Quit letting your feelings and emotions stand in the way of the facts and keep you from making the best decision.

Build mental toughness and watch as everything changes for you.
