I haven't met a single person I consider to be truly successful who hasn't overcome massive amounts of adversity and struggle.
It's no coincidence that some of the most successful people of all time have come from extremely difficult situations.
Consider that a great thing for yourself.
Because regardless of who you are...
Regardless of where or what you come from...
...and regardless of your unique circumstances...
You have the opportunity to build a great life for yourself.
Adversity is a reality of life.
You must face it and overcome.
On the other side of adversity lies the skills, lessons, and perspective necessary to win.
Overcoming adversity is simple ... But simple doesn't mean easy.
I'll show you how.
Adversity is the struggles, challenges, and obstacles we're faced with.
It's a physical ailment...
A lack of resources...
A hard upbringing...
Addiction...
Financial struggle...
A bad car accident...
A physical altercation...
A bad decision that negatively impacts our future...
Denial or rejection...
There's an endless list of things you could consider to be adversity.
It's unique to every single one of us.
...But we all have to deal with it in one way or another.
Regardless of what your situation is and regardless of what your struggles are...
How hard it is and how "bad you have it" compared to everyone else is completely irrelevant.
Life is not a competition of who has it the hardest or who's the biggest victim.
You will only be rewarded in life by overcoming adversity.
The level and intensity of the challenges you face will continue to progress over the course of your life.
...as you get stronger...
The challenges you face will become more and more difficult.
As a business owner ... I may no longer have to worry about whether or not I'll have a roof over my head and a hot meal at the end of the day...
But I do have to worry about whether my employees will be able to say the same.
Even though the struggles I face today have evolved...
The strategies for overcoming adversity remain the same.
It doesn't matter what the situation or circumstance is.
The same will be true for you.
Most people think of struggle and adversity as something to avoid at all costs.
When they're presented with these situations...
They throw in the towel.
The reality of adversity is much different.
It's an opportunity.
...and when you start seeing it as one...
How you respond to and handle these situations will change.
Adversity is a test that will help you build the discipline...
The grit...
The confidence...
The perseverance...
...and the self-belief necessary for you to tackle and overcome bigger challenges in the future.
It's a blessing and an opportunity to become stronger and more skilled.
It will force you outside of your comfort zone and give you the perspective needed to do and become more.
Be grateful for it.
Because life is an endless string of challenges from the day you're born to the day you die.
That's just the truth.
Adversity is an opportunity for growth.
An opportunity for you to build the strength to overcome these challenges.
Adversity will frustrate and overwhelm you.
Instead of wallowing in these emotions...
Train yourself to recognize them as triggers to take action.
You can only overcome adversity through action.
It doesn't matter how you feel.
Detach yourself from your personal feelings about the situation and focus on what you can do to move past it.
Negative emotions can be a powerful source of fuel to help you overcome adversity and make massive progress in all areas of your life.
Harness their power and use it to your advantage.
Your only other option is to let them destroy you.
Oftentimes things will happen to you that are out of your control.
Oftentimes adversity comes from elements that are out of your control.
Quit worrying about what's outside of your control and start focusing on the things that are in your control.
You are in control of the factors that have the biggest impact on your life every day.
You control the foods you eat.
You control the water you drink.
You control the way you move your body.
You control the amount of sleep you get.
You control the information you put in your brain.
You control the people you surround yourself with.
You control the habits you have.
You control the attitude you show up with.
There is a lot more in your control than isn't.
...and if you fail to exercise this control...
You will inevitably create a lot of the adversity you deal with as a result.
Focus on the elements in your control.
If you want to overcome adversity and build a great life...
You have to understand that you are the only person holding yourself back.
It's not your parents.
It's not your partner.
It's not your friends.
It's not your boss.
It's not your teachers.
It's not society.
It's you.
The universe isn't out to get you.
You aren't unlucky.
You don't have "haters".
...and no matter how much you pout, kick, or scream ... the world is never going to listen to or sympathize with your sob story.
Losers identify with their struggles.
Winners identify with what they did to overcome their struggles.
Don't create a self-fulfilling prophecy by feeling pity for yourself.
Take charge and make a change.
Overcoming adversity has nothing to do with having the resources necessary to do so.
You don't need resources.
You need resourcefulness.
It will force you into a situation where you will be required to build the skills necessary to win long-term.
Let everyone else hide when the storm rolls through.
Take advantage of the opportunity to exercise resourcefulness and create distance between yourself and everyone else.
That's what winners do.
Adversity is hard to overcome.
That's the truth you must accept.
The only way you can overcome it is by taking action.
This will require mental toughness.
...Which also happens to be the single most important skill you need to become truly great.
Mental toughness is the foundation upon which every other skill required to win is built.
Confidence.
Self-Belief.
Self-Worth.
Fortitude.
Discipline.
Grit.
It all starts with the skill of mental toughness.
I recommend you get intentional about building this skill, which is exactly what I show you how to do in my book, The Book on Mental Toughness.
It is a resource, a tool, and a guide all in one.
Mental toughness is required to overcome adversity.
Nothing else.

Achieving long-term success is very simple.
It's not easy ... but it is simple.
It's an equation.
Your inputs equal your outputs...
Confidence is a key element in achieving any level of success in business and life.
Without it, you cannot win.
Confidence is a sense of security in your ability to execute and accomplish whatever it is you set your mind to it.
Without it ... Your goals will not be...
There's something that each and every one of us has an unlimited amount of.
Can you guess what it is?
It's potential.
So, why is it that some people are able to "reach their potential" while...
