Juggling multiple things at once and "multitasking" doesn't make you effective.
It makes you mediocre.
At everything.
Here's what actually happens when you multitask and divide your attention between multiple things at once:
You half-ass everything.
You miss important details.
You make stupid mistakes.
You stress yourself out.
You have to backtrack and redo work.
...and everything ends up taking twice as long.
Congratulations.
You just found the best way to check a box and the worst way to produce a result.
High performers don't multitask.
They focus.
They give 100% of their effort, energy, and attention to one task at a time because they understand that's how you produce a high-quality result.
Who do you think is more valuable?
The person who does one thing exceptionally well?
Or the person who does five things poorly?
If the answer isn't obvious to you...
Understand that the results you produce are all that matters.
It's not about how much shit you can get done.
It's about how much shit you can get done to the highest standard possible.
...and if the results aren't there...
How much you got done becomes irrelevant because it wasn't done correctly.
Quit looking for the corner to cut.
If you're going to do something...
Give it your full focus and attention.
Do it right.
Do it completely.
...and once you're done...
Move on to the next task.
That's true efficiency.
Not "multitasking".
