Nobody is going to come along, wave their magic wand, and give you the title of "Leader."
You have to earn it.
Most people have the idea that they'll eventually be put in charge...
...and they will automatically gain the respect and loyalty of the people they manage or work with.
This, among many other reasons, is why most people are shitty leaders.
Becoming and being a great leader has nothing to do with being "in charge"...
Ordering people around...
Being above the people you lead...
Or any of that shit.
Being a great leader is about serving the people you lead...
It's about being the first to take action...
It's about establishing a high standard and upholding that standard for yourself and your team...
It's about dropping your ego and admitting when you make mistakes...
It's about seeking discomfort and training your team to do the same...
It's about consistently auditing your actions and intent....
It's about valuing actions over words...
It's about making difficult decisions that a lot of people may not agree with...
It's about putting the mission and the team before yourself...
It's about doing all of these things consistently and without compromise.
Being a great leader is fucking hard...
But it's also required for the success of the team and the mission.
Start leading through your example.
Because if you don't...
Who else will?
