I have a terrible memory.
Old friends will ask me all the time, “Hey man, you remember that time when_______” and I'll legit not have a clue what they are talking about.
For a long time, I just thought I couldn’t remember things.
...but the truth is...
I don't put weight on trivial things, events, or occurrences from the past.
I don't have “glory days”.
I'm so focused on what I'm doing currently to create the best version of me 10 years from now, that I have no room for anything from the past, except for the lessons I've learned that are serving me now.
My “glory days” have yet to come.
The best version of myself is the one that will be 10 years from now.
Stop looking back and reminiscing about how great things used to be.
You are creating that image in your head & heart and it's completely fucking you out of the best part of your life...what's to come!
No matter how great you were 10 years ago, 5 years ago, 2 years ago, last week...focusing on that is a sure way to make sure that's all you ever have.
On the flip side, you could be on a 10-year losing streak...and the reason you keep losing is because you keep looking at that like it's who you are, instead of it just being a chapter of a book that has an ending.
Are you spending your time focused on the past, reminiscing how great or bad things have been?
Or are you focusing on what will be, and taking the actions necessary to create the best part of your life...the best chapter...over the next ten years?
Winners do one.
Losers do the other.
Like it or not that’s a fact.
It's your choice.
I can tell you this…I’m never looking or going back...unless it's for french fries. 😉
