You must have confidence if you want to win in life.
The problem is ... Most of what we've been told about confidence isn't anywhere close to the reality of what real confidence is.
Allow me set the record straight...
Confidence can't be inherited.
It can't be bought.
It's not a choice.
It's not a character trait.
...and no matter how many mantras you recite to yourself in the mirror...
Confidence will not just magically materialize for you.
Confidence is a skill ... and it's a skill that must be built through execution.
It's also perishable.
Which means if you want to build and maintain a high level of confidence...
You have to continue doing the work required.
If you adhere to the methods I’m going to outline for you today...
Not only will you build unbreakable confidence...
But you'll also learn how to maintain it for life.
The only way you’re ever going to build unbreakable confidence is through execution.
It's by keeping the promises you make to yourself.
Consider this...
If you had a friend who always made promises to you only to never deliver on those promises...
What would you think about this person?
Do you think you'd have confidence in their ability to do anything?
Of course not.
What if this person was you?
Would you feel confident in your own ability to do anything?
You couldn't.
This is exactly my point.
Confidence is earned through execution, and keeping the promises you make to yourself.
If you start the race ... You have to finish it.
If you start the project ... You have to finish it.
If you make a commitment ... You have to see the commitment through to the end.
Because if you don't...
You will never be confident in yourself.
Confidence is a feeling of assurance in your ability to get the job done no matter what.
Which is exactly what gets us into the second important component to building and maintaining this unbreakable confidence long term...
The biggest difference between winners and losers is this...
Losers quit when things get difficult.
Winners don't.
...and as they continue to stay the course...
Their competition becomes less and less.
You cannot accomplish anything in life if you quit.
That's just the truth.
If you quit every time things get hard...
If you quit every time you're presented with a roadblock...
If you quit every time the daily tasks required of you to win become mundane...
You can never win and you can never build true, unbreakable confidence.
It's really that simple.
...and guess what?
As you stay the course and overcome the obstacles and challenges that present themselves along the way...
You'll earn confidence as a result of overcoming these challenges.
This brings us to the third and final thing you need to know to build unbreakable confidence.
If you want your confidence to become unbreakable...
You have to overcome more and more difficult challenges over time.
You may be slightly more confident by completing 2 half-ironmans than you would be by completing 1...
But you wouldn't be anywhere near as confident as you would be if you completed a full ironman.
Why?
Because it's more difficult.
It's a new challenge that you weren't confident in your ability to complete before you actually did.
Here's another example.
If you're an entrepreneur and you get your business to generating 6-figures month over month...
Do you think you'll be confident in your ability to continue making 6-figures month after month?
You sure would.
But how about 7-figures month after month?
No ... Because you haven't actually DONE it yet.
This is the entire point of continuing to push yourself to overcome bigger and bigger challenges as you progress.
If you aren't making progress...
You aren't going to be any more confident than you were before.
If you want to build unbreakable confidence...
Continue to challenge yourself to produce better and better results over time.
Continue to challenge yourself to overcome bigger and bigger challenges over time.
...and never stop.
Here's why...
If you run every day for 10 years...
You're going to be an exceptional runner.
But, what if after those 10 years ... You take a year off and try to run the same pace and distance you did the year prior?
What do you think will happen?
Will you be able to match the same pace and distance?
No, you won't.
By refusing to train every day...
Instead of continually making progress...
...and instead of maintaining your current abilities...
This skill will deteriorate.
The same is true of confidence ... and really anything and everything else in life.
If you do not continue to do what made you confident in the first place...
Your confidence will disappear with time.
You have to keep the promises you make to yourself.
You have to persevere and never quit.
You have to continually embrace and overcome new challenges.
...and if you are ever going to become someone capable of doing these things and building true, unbreakable confidence...
You have to develop another skill.
That skill is mental toughness.
Mental toughness is the single most important skill you can develop to win in every area of your life.
It also serves as the foundation upon which every other skill in life is built.
Period.
If you do not have mental toughness...
You cannot win.
So ... What makes you think you'll build unbreakable confidence without the mental toughness to do so?
Keeping the promises you make to yourself requires mental toughness.
Not quitting when things get difficult requires mental toughness.
Overcoming new challenges requires mental toughness.
...and through developing mental toughness...
You will earn confidence as a byproduct.
