We've all heard the saying, “Consistency is key.”

...and while this may seem true at the surface level...

It's not.

Not entirely.

Because the reality is...

Most people don't have a problem with staying consistent.

They have a routine and habits they rarely deviate from.

So ... Why aren't these people successful?

If consistency truly is the "key" to success ... Wouldn't most people be living the lives they truly want for themselves?

They would.

...But only if they're consistent in the right actions.

The Truth About Consistency

Consistency isn't the key to success.

Being consistent with theright actions is.

Like I said...

Most people have no problem being consistent.

They skip their workouts consistently.

They eat garbage food consistently.

They sit on the couch and watch their favorite shows consistently.

They hold a low standard consistently.

They cut corners consistently.

They numb themselves with drugs and alcohol consistently.

...but none of these habits will actually help these people get wherever it is they're trying to go.

If you want consistency to work for you as opposed to against you...

You must be consistent in the actions required to become successful.

Why You're Struggling to Be Consistent

Creating and maintaining positive habits is no easy task.

It requires discipline.

...and if you're struggling to stay consistent in the right actions...

It's because you haven't built the skill of discipline.

Everyone can stay consistent when they're motivated and the conditions are ideal.

Very few people can stay consistent when they're unmotivated and the conditions aren't ideal.

Discipline is the difference.

Train yourself to show up no matter what.

Train yourself to execute no matter what.

Sometimes you just have to force it.

The more you do ... The more discipline you'll build.

How to Be Consistent and Disciplined

Success doesn't happen by accident.

There is no luck or magic involved.

It takes time and consistency in the right actions.

That consistency requires discipline.

But if you don't possess the skill of discipline...

How do you build it to stay consistent with the actions that matter?

1. Set Massive & Measurable Goals

Establishing your goals and your "why" is an essential component of being consistent in anything.

It will also help you determine the actions you need to be consistent with.

Consistency without a clear goal in mind will have you unmotivated in an afternoon.

You need a target.

You need something to encourage you to take action and continue to take action over the long term.

Your goals will give you a reason to execute when you'd rather do anything else.

Create a massive and detailed vision of the life you want...

Break your vision down into daily tasks you can take action on to help you reach your goals...

...and show up every day to execute on the tasks with the proper effort and intent.

That's step one.

2. Execute When You Don't Feel Like It

Most of you won't like what I'm about to say.

If you don't ... It's probably because it's what you need to hear.

You are not going to feel motivated 24/7.

Nobody is.

Thinking you will be is an expectation that will have you feeling frustrated and bitter the minute you no longer do.

You have to train yourself to execute when you don't feel like it.

This is the single biggest thing that separates those who win in life from those who lose.

Losers only execute on the days when the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and everything feels easy and natural.

Winners execute every day, even when they get punched in the face repeatedly and all the cards are stacked against them.

Every day you choose to show up and execute...

You are making a deposit into your discipline bank account.

Every day you choose to pass up on the work required...

You are making a withdrawal from your discipline bank account.

The only way you can grow your discipline is by continuously making deposits.

3. Keep The Promises You Make To Yourself

Keep your promises ... All of them.

It's a foolproof way to build discipline.

It's also how you'll build a sense of confidence and belief in yourself.

Because by keeping the promises you make to yourself...

You are proving to yourself that you are someone you can trust and be proud of.

Every time you fail to keep your promises...

You erode the trust you've built in yourself as well as your discipline.

So if you want to build consistency and discipline around the tasks required of you to build a great life...

Start keeping the promises you make to yourself.

Your inability to do so will breed a habit of compromising.

4. Don't Quit

When things get hard and everyone else decides to throw in the towel...

Don't do the same.

We all have to face unfortunate circumstances.

We all have to navigate obstacles and challenges that present themselves.

We all have times when we want to quit.

Understand that what lies on the other side of this hardship is your breakthrough.

As long as you continue to keep showing up and executing to the best of your ability...

You will eventually make it through the storm.

Let everyone else quit.

That just means you'll have fewer people to compete against.

Sure, success may not be guaranteed for you.

But if you quit like everybody else...

You'll end up with a life like everybody else.

That is guaranteed.

You can still win without being perfectly consistent.

You're not going to hit the target every time, and that's okay.

What's not okay is quitting.

Be patient.

Even if you've been disciplined and consistent for years...

You have to understand that your biggest goals in life will take a long time to materialize.

Quitting is starting from scratch and happens to be one of the biggest reasons why most people never gain any traction.

They'll stick with something for 3 years...

Grow stagnant and frustrated...

Then leave to go do something else because it "wasn't for them."

The reality is ... They just haven't been executing correctly for long enough.

Let time do its thing.

Keep moving no matter how hard it is.

Your biggest wins will come in the times you feel like quitting and don't.

Mental Toughness: The Key to Discipline & Consistency

Mental toughness is all about winning the war in your mind.

We all have what I refer to as a "boss" voice and a "b*tch" voice.

Every time your mind tries to talk you into cutting a corner...

Accepting a lower standard...

Skipping a task...

Or quitting altogether...

That is the weak voice in your head trying to convince you not to do all the things you said you would.

Building mental toughness and learning to control this voice is exactly what it will take for you to build consistency and discipline in the right actions.

When your b*tch voice gets real loud and negative...

You'll have the mental toughness to put the boss voice in charge.

Mental toughness serves as the foundation upon which every other skill you need to win in life is built.

Discipline.

Confidence.

Self-Belief.

Self-Worth.

Fortitude.

Grit.

You can't be consistent in the actions required to build the life you truly want without mental toughness.

I recommend you check out my book, The Book on Mental Toughness.

It's a guide and resource you can utilize to help build the skill of mental toughness and take complete control of your life for good.

Consistency isn't enough.

You have to be disciplined and consistent in the right actions.
