You have no idea what someone else is dealing with behind closed doors.
What they’ve lost.
What they’re fighting through.
…or how much effort it took just to get their ass out of bed today.
Some people are doing everything they can to hold their life together…
…and you’d never know it.
That’s why the way you treat people matters.
A genuine compliment.
A few words of encouragement.
Giving somebody credit for the work they’re putting in.
That shit costs you nothing.
…but it can mean a hell of a lot to somebody who feels like nobody gives a damn.
You can have high standards and still treat people with respect.
You can hold people accountable and still help them succeed.
Being strong doesn’t give you a pass to treat people like shit.
…and if you’ve worked your way through hard times…
You should understand exactly how much it matters to have somebody in your corner.
Don’t get so caught up in where you’re going that you forget what it felt like to struggle.
Pay attention.
Give credit where it’s earned.
Help when you can.
Do it without needing recognition or a fucking favor in return.
How you treat people who have nothing to offer you says a lot about your character.
Make sure it says something you can be proud of.
