Have the Courage to Be Disliked

October 26, 2026 2 min read

A lot of people want to build a successful life…

…but they aren’t willing to stand up for what they believe in when things get uncomfortable.

They’ll put in the work.

They’ll make sacrifices.

They’ll push through adversity.

…but the second telling the truth might cost them someone’s approval…

They go quiet.

They know what they believe.

They’re just too scared to stand behind it.

That should concern you.

Because building a life you’re proud of requires courage that goes well beyond working hard.

You’ll have to make decisions people won’t like.

You’ll have to have conversations you’d rather avoid.

You’ll have to hold your standards when compromising them would make your life a hell of a lot easier.

If you keep backing down every time someone might disagree with you…

You’re training yourself to fold under pressure.

Every time you trade your principles for approval…

You make it easier to do it again.

Eventually, that habit shows up everywhere.

In the bullshit you tolerate in your business.

In the way you let people treat you.

In the promises you stop keeping to yourself.

You know you’re capable of better…

…but you keep letting fear make your decisions.

That shit will cost you far more than someone’s disapproval ever could.

Stop giving other people that much control over your life.

Say what you mean.

Do what you know is right.

Stand behind your principles when there’s actually something to lose.

That’s how you develop courage.

You practice it when you’re uncomfortable.

You practice it when your voice shakes.

You practice it when you know damn well someone isn’t going to like what you have to say.

The more you do it…

The more you trust yourself to handle the next difficult situation.

You don’t need everyone to agree with you.

You need to be able to look yourself in the mirror and respect the decisions you made.

Build a life you have the backbone to stand behind.
