The real world deals in wins and losses.
You can either win and get the trophy...
Or lose and get nothing.
There is no participation trophy in life for showing up.
Which makes you think...
Why would we condition our youth to expect anything different?
It doesn't make any sense.
Losing is an essential element to becoming successful in life.
I've lost A LOT...
...and trust me when I say...
My losses have taught me far more about winning than my wins ever have.
Without them...
It would have been impossible for me to improve and build the skills I ultimately needed to win long term.
So instead of removing losing from the table...
Shouldn't we be teaching the next generation to be gracious in their defeat?
Shouldn't we be teaching the next generation how to extract the lessons from their losses?
Shouldn't we be teaching the next generation that if they want to win, they have to become undeniably great?
Let's stop lying about what it takes to win in the real world...
...and let's start showing them what it actually takes.
