Most people are good employees.
They show up.
They follow the plan.
They execute on what they're told.
They work their 8 hours.
They collect their paycheck.
They go home and live the same life as everyone else.
But here's what they don't understand:
Good employees don't get paid.
Good employees are cogs.
Replaceable parts in a machine that will run with or without them.
If they leave tomorrow, the company won't skip a beat.
Someone else will fill their spot and do the exact same job.
Great employees are different.
They don't just follow the plan...
They improve it.
They don't just execute...
They innovate.
They don't just do their part...
They lead.
Great employees find the holes in the system and fix them.
They create and implement solutions before problems become disasters.
They make everyone around them better.
...and because they do...
They become indispensable.
These are the people who get PAID.
These are the people who get promoted.
These are the people who build careers instead of just working a job.
If you're an entrepreneur...
The same rules apply.
Good entrepreneurs follow industry standards.
Great entrepreneurs set them.
Good entrepreneurs copy what works.
Great entrepreneurs create what works.
Good entrepreneurs manage their business.
Great entrepreneurs build empires.
So ask yourself:
Are you executing at a level that makes you replaceable?
Or are you executing at a level that makes you irreplaceable?
Are you finding problems and complaining about them?
Or are you finding problems and solving them?
Are you just doing your job?
Or are you becoming the person others look to for leadership?
Because if you're not happy with where you are...
The answer to that question is exactly why.
