What ends up holding most people back in life is their pride and ego.

They have too much pride to be embarrassed...

Too much pride to look stupid...

Too much pride to admit they don't know shit...

Which ultimately keeps them from taking any risks or trying anything new.

You have to understand that there is no shame in admitting that you're just getting started.

When my business partner, Chris, and I started our first business together back in 1999...

We didn't have any money.

We scraped $12,000 together from painting the stripes on parking lots that summer … and used that money to pay a year of rent upfront for our first retail store because we had no credit.

We got credit cards and maxed them out just to finance the inventory so we would have products to sell.

In our first few years of business, we spent most of our time living in the back of the store … sleeping on a couch and piss-stained mattress from the Salvation Army.

The picture above is a picture taken SIX YEARS into our business … imagine what it looked like the years prior to this! 

You think I was embarrassed?! 

Fuck yes I was embarrassed...

I was broke...

I looked stupid...

I didn't know shit...

But had I not put my pride aside and got my hands dirty...

I wouldn’t be where I am today.
