Society will tell you self-care is all about taking it easy.
Treating yourself.
Relaxing.
Indulging.
Taking a break.
...all because you "deserve it".
That's not self-care.
That's self-sabotage.
Real self-care looks different.
Real self-care is keeping the promises you make to yourself and doing the things you know you need to do when you need to do them.
It's getting up when you don't want to.
It's working out when you're tired.
It's eating food that fuels your body instead of food that makes you feel like shit.
It's holding yourself to a high standard.
It's filling your brain with rich information.
It's doing the work required to build the life you actually want.
Quit buying into the falsehood that sitting on your ass, taking it easy, and gorging yourself has anything to do with love or respect for yourself.
It's the opposite.
If you actually gave a fuck about yourself...
You'd do what's best for your future self.
You'd make choices that move you forward.
You'd build habits that create the life you want.
You'd stop making excuses.
Here's the way I see it...
You can either get aggressive about building a great life for yourself...
Or you can keep living a life you feel the constant need to escape from through "self-care".
Real self-care isn't comfortable.
It's hard as fuck.
But it's also necessary to reach a place of ultimate confidence and fulfillment.
Stop treating yourself to mediocrity.
Start treating yourself to greatness.
That's what it means to truly care about yourself.
