To this day I can still remember people telling me "you'll never do that" and "you just need to get a real job" back when I was sleeping on a piss stained mattress in the back of our first retail store.
I remember their names, where we were and what they were wearing exactly when they said it.
I think about that every single day....EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
...and do you know how fucking thankful I am that I didn’t listen to them?
I still know some of these people...
Except now they get silent and look away when I walk in the same room...
....but I know they’re still lookin when I turn around.
Still secretly wishing and hoping they will be “right” someday.
But that’s a great thing for a number of reasons...the best one being....you get to find out who your "real" friends are and who really has your best interests in mind.
Take notes and beware of those who work to convince you that your goals are unrealistic, unnecessary, unobtainable, meaningless or unimportant.
Beware of those who work to discourage you into straying from your goals.
Beware of those who try to make you feel guilty for wanting what you want.
These people, and we all have them, have long ago sold themselves on the idea that they would never obtain the life they really want and have given up on their own future.
They seek comfort in working (sabotaging) to ensure the misery (mediocrity) of others so that their own lack of progress won’t be so obvious.
This is your life.
This is your ONLY life.
Do whatever the fuck you want.
Do it the way you want.
NEVER let anyone stand in your way.
Nobody has power over your goals except you.
Do your work.
Do it consistently.
Do it perfectly with pride in the smallest details.
The results will be there.
Period.
