On my trip to the airport this morning from Whistler Canada to Vancouver I saw a sign that read “A grudge is a heavy burden to bear”.
There was more on the sign but I just caught that as we passed by.
It got me thinking....
How much of the negativity and anxiety in your life is self inflicted by you holding on to things that you shouldn’t?
Is it just me or has social media turned into a competition about who had more bad shit happen to them?
Look, I know this is really hard to believe...
It’s not just you.
It’s hard for all of us.
Bad shit happens to all of us.
Really bad.
You are not the only one.
I know it may feel like it sometimes.
...but it’s simply not true.
There likely isn’t a person you know in real life or who you follow on social that hasn’t battled or is currently battling demons you know nothing about.
LET IT GO.
Overcoming is part of life.
Constantly dwelling on things that have happened to you...no matter how horrible...just keeps you in that place.
Many people never move on and never figure out that in the end it really doesn’t matter because you’re gonna be dead one day anyway.
So here is my thought:
LET IT GO.
Live your life.
You’ll be a lot happier when you wake up to the fact that nearly all your suffering is self-induced by getting caught up with the sheep of the world who think constantly bitching about “how hard you have it” is somehow making your life better.
The truth is:
Nobody really cares.
Nobody wants to hear it.
No matter how interested people pretend to be...they arent...and they are secretly wishing you’d shut the fuck up.
People may act interested and sympathetic because they think its polite...but remember the minute you walk away they are saying:
“That dude is such a crybaby whiner bitch”.
EVERY SINGLE TIME you complain you dilute your social currency, influence & respect with others...
...on top of making yourself unhappy by literally flooding yourself with negativity constantly.
So stop.
Don’t like something?
Unhappy with the way things are going?
Let it go.
Or take the action needed to fix it.
...and if you’re unwilling to do that...you deserve EXACTLY what you’re getting.
