Don't Fall for the Highlight Reels

When you're young in the game of entrepreneurship...

...and by young, I mean you haven't been on the path for very long yet...

It can be easy to get discouraged and feel frustrated when all these people on the internet appear to be killing it and make everything look effortless for them.

Don’t fall for their highlight reels.

This shit is hard.

I've been doing it a long time and it's certainly hard as fuck for me.

It's gonna be hard for you too.

That's just the way it is.

You will never have someone who has actually built real shit tell you anything other than that.

So when you see all this shit on the internet and social media...

Don't get discouraged.

Don't get frustrated.

Don't think you're doing it wrong.

Just understand that you haven't been told the whole truth...

...and that's because the whole truth isn't shown.

If the whole truth was shown...

You would realize that success is an equation...

One where over the long haul the output is always equal to the input.

Here is the thing nobody talks about:

The work is disproportionately front loaded with zero reward on the front end.

That’s why so many people quit.

…but over time you become rewarded disproportionately and it evens out.

In other words...

If you put in the fucking work...

The results will come.

But that can't be packaged and sold as a "secret" for success ... can it?

If I could only give one piece of advice for anybody trying to be great...

Whether you want to be a great entrepreneur...

Athlete...

Musician...

Artist…

…or anything…

It would be to understand that the journey is harder than you can possibly comprehend ... and it's going to take a lot longer than you think.

That’s reality.

The best chance you have at succeeding is by becoming someone who is capable of showing up and giving it your best when you aren’t seeing any progress forward.

Very few people are capable of that.

The people who are win eventually.
