People often ask me, "Did you ever imagine you'd..." and they fill in the blank with a specific detail about my life.
My answer is always the same:
No ... I expected it.
Every time I say that, they look at me sideways as if I'm supposed to talk about awe, disbelief, or how "crazy" it all feels.
That’s because they don’t understand where real expectation comes from.
Real expectation doesn’t come from a place of ego.
It comes from knowing how you operate.
When you show up every day…
When you put in the reps when nobody is watching…
When you do the hard shit when you don't feel like it…
When you execute at a high level consistently…
When you refuse to compromise on your standards...
You stop wishing for wins.
You start expecting them.
Not because you’re special or because your ego is out of control.
Because you’ve earned the right to expect them.
Losers hope because they’re inconsistent.
They wish because they don’t execute.
They wonder because they don’t trust themselves.
Winners don’t live there.
They know how hard they’re willing to push.
They know how much they're willing to endure.
So when the win shows up…
It’s not a surprise.
If anything...
The only surprise is when it takes longer than expected.
Hoping and wishing is for people who haven’t proven anything to themselves yet.
Expectation is for people who have.
