The Two Mistakes People Make About Time

Most people make one of two mistakes when it comes to time...

1. They think they have all the time in the world.

...and because they think this way...

They fuck off, procrastinate and kick the can down the road until they don't have any time left.

2. They have an unrealistic expectation of how much time it takes for their goals to materialize.

They think they can achieve a lifetime goal in 6 months.

...and as soon as things aren't moving as fast as they'd like...

They grow impatient...

Get frustrated...

Quit...

Then move on to pursue a new venture.

Then repeat that cycle over and over again for life.

The truth is...

Everything worthwhile takes time.

Your goals take time.

Your relationships take time.

Your fitness takes time.

No matter how urgent you are...

No matter how aggressive you are...

No matter how much you accomplish...

Time is an essential component for your success.

So is relentless daily execution.

Develop a realistic expectation of how much time it's actually going to take.

Expecting to accomplish your biggest goals in life in just 6 months...

1 year...

2 years...

...or even 5 years is extremely unrealistic and will have you feeling frustrated and confused before you get anywhere close.

At the same time...

Recognize that you do not have an unlimited amount of time to pursue your goals.

The longer you wait...

The harder it will be for you to achieve your goals.

Which means if you want to start making progress...

You have to be urgent in your execution of the tasks required to reach your goals and go hard AF every day.

…AND still realize even with that urgent daily effort it still takes years & years.

Balancing these two things requires a skill I call aggressive patience.

It's about doing anything and everything you can do to reach your goals today...

While also understanding that your goals are going to take time no matter how hard you work … and if you don’t exercise patience here you can’t accomplish anything.

This is the game.

I didn’t make the rules.
